Vineyard: Gravel and sand over a limestone base. Merlot rootstock originated from an estate in Pomerol (Bordeaux), in 1974. The area is rich with ancient ruins, including vestiges of Roman settlements. Saint Marcel d’Ardeche, 45 miles northwest of Avignon.
Yield: 43 Ha/Hl
Vinification: The hand-picked fruit is delivered to the cellars, where it is vinified in small concrete vats for up to ten days, followed by a week of maceration on the skins. Maceration for a full eight days without pressing. Fermentation at 48° for maximum depth of silky flavor.
Tasting Notes: Intense aromas and flavours of fresh raspberries and blackberries mingle with beautifully ripe, smooth tannins which glide across the palate like silk.
